- Our college has been founded by the noted social worker, freedom fighter, scholar and educationist G.H.Mahajan. He had mobilized the like minded, committed social workers for taking education to the rural, tribal and most marginalized sections of society. Their goal was to take education to the grassroots for the upliftment of the most underprivileged sections
- The college was founded and developed in the most adverse circumstances facing acute financial resource crunch.
- The college is situated in the small mofussil town at the foothills of the Satpuda mountain ranges. The area is surrounded by small backward villages and hamlets. Even the town people mostly depend on the agriculture of their livelihood.
- Inclusive development and the upliftment of the socio-economically and educationally backward strata of society should be the aim of educational institute. And our institution has been continuously striving to take education to the people who were denied the right to education and thus opportunities to develop and raise their standards of living.
- Hence, serving the poorest people of society through the means of education has been the driving force for the management. In view of this, the college is taking high strides in making available the best possible educational services.
- Vision and mission of the college is to impart best possible means and help the youths to break the vicious circle of poverty and illiteracy. So presently the college is offering 11 UG and 03 PG and 04 doctoral research centers, 02 value added and 01 certificate programmes. The campus of the college is spread over 50 acres of land on the outskirts of the town. The campus is very beautiful and surrounded by lush green trees. We provide best possible physical infrastructure facilities with adequate number of classrooms, staffrooms, library, laboratories, office, reading room, gymnasium, common room and seminar hall etc.
In order to cater to the needs of the aspiring youths, the college is constantly upgrading and developing its physical infrastructure, We have upgraded and equipped well our laboratories. At present we have 03 physics laboratories, 03 chemistry laboratories, 03 botany laboratories, 02 Zoology, 01 computer science, one geography and one laboratory for language. Our library is considerably rich library in the district.
The most striking & distinctive example of our college is that more than 70% of our students belong to the schedule tribes and 90 % of our students belong to the backward classes. And every year we give admissions to more than 70 % tribal students. These tribal students are mostly the first generation learners belonging to the lowest stratum of society. Our college has been most instrumental in changing the socio-economic scenario of the area. Most of the graduates in this area have been produced by our college. Maximum number of our students come from the remote, inaccessible & backward villages in the Satpuda mountain ranges and take education in the most adverse circumstances.
Our town, though very small in area and population has 3 ladies,5 boys hostels run by the govt. of
Maharashtra. These hostels and govt scholarships are very much benefical for our students
The central library of the college is very rich with rare books and references. It is partially automated and it uses integrated management system known as LIBMAN software consisting of modules like book circulation and OPAC, besides the library has INELIBNET and N-LIST programme for e-books, e-journals and MIS reports.
The college has well-equipped gymnasium. It has modern gym equipments. The college is the nursing home for the best athletes. We have won the general championship in athletics for many years successively. Our tribal students are the strength of our college and give best performance in the athletic sports competitions.

The institution has sufficient campus area of 4.5 acres. The institution has been unremittingly developing its infrastructure to cater to the growing needs of the students. Now the college has adequate number of classrooms, staff rooms, library, reading rooms, laboratories, gymnasium playground etc.
In order to cater to the growing needs of the ever increasing strength of students we have expanded our laboratories and upgraded them with latest lab equipments and instruments.
The college has well established instrumentation facility center with modern analytical equipments. College has a very rich central library with library management system and other softwares like INILIBNET presently the central library of the college has more than 46760 books.
The college has well equipped gymnasium, fitness zone. Students are trained and motivated in various types of sports. College provides to our athletes and players incentives like traveling allowances,daily allowances, sports kits and tracksuits.
